Establishing your business’ unique brand and color scheme is crucial for success. Your brand encompasses a wide range of factors: from your logo and colors to what your business stands for and the experience you provide. Brand is what lives in the minds of your customers and how others perceive you.

According to our logo team at Bags & Bows, there are 3 steps to branding your business:

  1. Define what makes your business unique.
  2. Create your brand and its elements.
  3. Live and promote your brand consistently.

An important step in creating your brand is choosing the right colors. The colors you choose should be incorporated into every aspect of your business: your logo, office, storefront, website, packaging, and staff apparel. Establishing consistency in your color scheme will create a memorable image of your brand.

There is a psychology of color and how different colors motivate your customers to buy. Each color brings about different emotions and perceptions, so you want to make sure you’re using the right colors in your branding.

Here are a few examples of how colors are perceived:

  • Green gives a feeling of health, freshness, and serenity and is great for businesses focused on health and wellness, education, and landscaping.
  • Blue is perceived as trustworthy, dependable, and stable and is commonly used by financial services.
  • Red evokes excitement, energy, passion and courage and is oftentimes used by sports, entertainment, and food companies.

If you are already using a specific color in your branding, ask yourself these questions to make sure you’re moving in the right direction.

  1. Are you using the best color for your brand based on color psychology? Perhaps it’s just time  for a fresh, overall change .
  2. Do you use your brand color consistently? Have you been using non-branded colors for anything? Make sure everything you print or put online has consistency.

Choosing the right color for your business is a simple way to stand out from the crowd and boost your brand image. Remember to use consistency in all of your branding. Your customers will thank you.
