5 Ways to Add Holiday Cheer to Your Store
The holiday season really is the most wonderful time of the year, but it also tends to bring added stress. What are you doing during this season to bring holiday cheer to your customers? By adding a few minor details to your store, you can create an enjoyable environment that will help decrease stress. Become a place where people can escape the stress of the holidays and enter into a joy-filled winter wonderland. Here are 5 ideas you can use in your store.
1. Holiday Décor
If you haven’t done so already, spice up your shop with some holiday decorations. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate or expensive. By simply displaying some holiday greenery, homemade snowflakes, or strings of lights, your store will exude the holiday season. If you’re interested in creating your own crafts to display, here are some fun holiday craft ideas.
2. Background Music
There is just something about Christmas music that makes everything seem right in the world. It’s full of cheer, joy, and nostalgia. By playing some good old-fashioned holiday music in your store, you’ll put your customers in the holiday shopping mood in no time. You could even make this an interactive experience by asking customers to share their favorite holiday albums and playing those.
3. Christmas Carolers
You don’t have to stick to just pre-recorded Christmas music. Take it to the next level by bringing in live carolers. Is there anything more charming than a group of individuals united in Christmas song? Saturday afternoons are a perfect time to bring some live music into your store. People could also come in and play various instruments; you don’t have to limit yourself to solely vocals.
4. Free Holiday Goodies
Set out some free holiday treats to provide some nourishment for weary shoppers. Little cups of hot apple cider or hot chocolate are perfect for this. You could also have some candy, cookies, or other treats available. Really the sky is the limit! If you’re offering treats during only certain times, be sure to advertise via signs outside of your shop, social media channels, or other avenues.
5. Holiday Characters
Incorporate various holiday characters throughout your store. You could do the classic Santa visit where children can come and talk to Santa and get a picture with him. Or, if you’re in a setting appropriate for animals, you could bring in live reindeer or even have sleigh rides with reindeer or horses.
You can get creative with this and display scenes from various Christmas movies. This could be a scene from A Charlie Brown Christmas or just a simple snowy village setting. Macy’s has a full-blown Santaland with elaborate settings depicting “A Day in the Life of an Elf.” You could do something like this on a smaller scale.
